My return to RP, LJ Smith, and Graphics

So, about two-three days ago I was talking to my friend from this Harry Potter RP forum that I used to RP at before all the drama and idiocy came up, and she mentioned that she had returned to the site, which motivated me to peek in. I ended up wanting to start RPing and to start making graphics again. That same night, I looked up this L.J. Smith RP site that recently re-opened. It was interesting since I've never RPed any of LJS's characters and I've never RPed via AIM before. Usually, posts ranged from 3-5 paragraphs and took ages to type, but it seems like this would be a lot less time consuming and frustrating. I doubt it takes as much literary range either, which makes it all the better! Less work, less stress! xD Well, anywho, I've been talking to one of the co-creators and she's pretty chill and we share the same views on the LJS books and characters. Hehehe. I'm really excited to start RPing again, especially with LJS characters, but getting reacquainted with the books only makes me want to re-read them and try to finish the ones I haven't gotten my hands on yet. I managed to buy the first re-published "vol. 1 of night world" which I didn't even know existed since back when I was reading them in 6th grade, they didn't have all the books in like three-some volumes. I just need to read The Chosen and Dark Angel, and possibly even check out this other series that I've never heard of, Heart of Valor? Or something like that. Vampire Diaries Trilogy has now been extended with 2 more books and from what I hear, more. I'm disappointed and I don't think I'm going to bother getting those books and reading them. 1) I expect that they'll suck. 2) I heard they did. So yeahhh. . . . .

So last night, my wonderful friend, Lici, asked me to make a layout for her new Pirate RP site [which I'll probably post up once she opens it], but unfortunately, I didn't have Photoshop or anything installed since my PSP9 isn't compatible for macbooks and I can't afford Photoshop at all. I ended up installing the 30-day trial for CS4. At first, I was reluctant to install it since I know that I'll end up wanting to kill myself after having to delete every single folder and file that goes with the program once my trial ends. BOY did the layout confuse me. Although most of my graphics experience comes from working with PSP9, I have some experience with CS2 and CS3 since I've worked with them via trials and at school, and in both suites the backdrop was there... as in CS4 - you can see your desktop and whatever else you're working on-- the gray backdrop? Nonexistent! I despise it simply because it confuses the hell out of me, but then again, if you look at it in another and probably more mature and rational way, it is pretty convenient if you're looking at a tutorial and working at the same time, or have other windows that you have to monitor while working. The controls seem to be the same; however, I'm not sure if I recall there being any 3D controls on CS2 or even CS3. Hmm... it's been awhile. =/ I need to familiarize myself with this program and I'm sure it's going to take like another week for that. -snort- Poops. Well, so far, I've only edited and manipulated my friend's L picture, which you can check out by clicking on my latest submission! [possibly my last for awhile. who knows?]

um. I'm tired. My hip and back is starting to hurt again. -sigh-
Oh, and if anyone knows a reliable website where CS2 is being sold for a reasonably cheap price, let me know! I checked out amazon and all I found were really crappy deals where they were still selling it at over $700 despite the fact that it's a really old model.
